I found out that it is going to cost about 300 dollars to get nonprofit organisation (501-3c) status. We will require this status in order to apply for grants and donations from places like sams club. If we get this status then we could also apply for government grants and grants through other organisations. Also if we get this status, we can get a HMPR sams club membership which will allow us to be eligible for up to 1000 in grants from them. Thought I would pass along the information.

Thanx for the info. I would like to look into it in the future.

Is Travis going to want to take back over in the future? If so, should he have a say in that?

If he has given up on the group then at the moment I doubt he has any say in it at all. If in the future he tries to take over the group, then I have the wonder if the group of that time will even allow it. Assuming they do allow it, I think he would be hard pressed to change anything that has been done to improve the group. My 2 cents.

Anyone's 2 cents is well worth a dime really. Don't ask....just accept the analogy. By the way she posted that last year. Travis has no intention of being involved with the group again. He wants to be a consultant when the group is looking for an outside view. He is welcome to be a consultant. Gary, we do need to talk about the best form of non-profit status. I would like to see what sams club can do. Might be cheaper than filing an official federal status.

Sams club can't give us non profit status. They just have grants and such for non profit groups.
